Format Factory

We opt for certain converters, depending on what formats they support. If we need to convert an MP3 file, we try to remember the last program that satisfied our needs, but if we have to convert a video file, we try to remember a different software. You can think of Format Factory as the application which is capable of handling mostly any media format. It does not matter if you want to convert images, video or audio files. Instead of installing and using different applications, you can load your files into the same interface and convert them right away.

Format Factory is freeware. It does not have any limitations or restricted functions, so you can use it for as long as you want, without paying for a license, unless you want to make a donation. Its setup package is roughly 50 MB, which may take some time to download, with a slow connection. The good news is that you can install it in a matter of seconds, without going through a complex procedure.

The software allows you to convert multiple images, audio and video files, in different formats, in a single run. A broad range of output formats are categorized in separate menus, on the left side of the interface. Regardless of which format you select, the same window will show up on your screen. It contains options for adding individual files or entire folders to your project, selecting a quality, making various encoding settings and more. Once you click the OK button, the selected files will appear in a list, on the main interface.

You can repeat the procedure, with different files, formats and settings. All the files, regardless of type and format, will appear in the same list, along with their size, conversion state and output paths. When you are ready, you just need to click the Start button and the software will convert all the files, one after another, according to your settings.

Additionally, you may use Format Factory to rip DVDs and audio CDs, convert them to ISO or CSO or convert images from ISO to CSO and vice versa. Other tools allow you to merge audio or video files, access various details about a media file and more. These functions are found in their own menus, on the left side of the interface and they are not difficult to use.
